Capitol University formerly Cagayan Capitol College, ranked 1st among maritime schools with 42 out of 61 examinees or 69 percent passing percentage based on July 2009 Marine Deck Officers Board Exam Results on the O.I.C. - N.W Licensure examination. The Philippine Maritime Institute Bohol 31 out of 47 examinees (66%) and the Philippine Merchant Marine Academy 27 out of 43 examinees (63%) ranked 1st in the Chief Mate Licensure while John B. Lacson Colleges Foundation Iloilo city 12 out of 20 examinees (60%) ranked 1st in the Master Mariner Licensure.
